Where do most of you sell your handmade jewelry online?

I am new to jewelry making.

I am just wondering where jewelry designer sell their art works? In the retail store or online store? I know people selling their jewelry on etsy, but I heard that many people don't make any sales over there.

I am also wondering how do you balance your time between jewelry making and jewelry marketing.

Thanks!

I have been selling on Etsy for just over a year. Between etsy buyers and wholesale clients, I have sold almost 1000 pieces. Selling on Etsy is a full time job. Marketing on/off Etsy requires a lot of time. I have found many inexpensive venues to promote my shop. Please contact me if you have questions. I would love to help!

I have a shop on etsy that I have had for over a year now. I've only sold 7 things and 2 were for a friend. I get frustrated with etsy and sometimes give up. But jewelry making is my passion so I am trying to find other places to sell. I have brought to work and sold a few items. I just think that things are bad right now for people and I hope things turn around. I use etsy as a place that fam, friends, and co-workers can go to look without me dragging all my pieces with me all the time.

What are the "inexpensive venues" you have found to promote your shop?

You can sell your designs to jewelry manufacturers, they pay good for designs, one I would like to suggest Mahima Jewelry
you can contact at http://www.mahimawholesalejewelry.com

One more thing where I can see your designs.

I haven't tryed them; http://www.1000markets.com , http://www.artfire.com
but when you make etsy/selling a full time j o b you sell and that means shameless self promotion, lots of it, everywhere

please pardon the rhetoric

Hi there. I sell on www.1000markets.com. It's a beautiful site that's up and coming and eventually will take off as Etsy has its still a work in progress but it's a great place to sell. You can blog with other sellers; comment on their shops and all for a VERY small fee. The set up and hosting is absolutely free. They only charge a fee when you make a sale and it's a small price to pay 5.5% of every sale plus 50 cents and that includes the shipping cost. My shop is www.1000markets.com/shops/lpsjewelry go take a gander and see what you think of the site. The people there are really nice to work with too!

Online shops: ArtFire and Etsy. I recently opened on a shop on 1000markets, but haven't set it up yet.

My website: I take custom commissions through my website. I'm currently investigating adding a store with Google checkout on my website.

Other online: Additionally, I accept custom commissions through a few social networking sites that I've been a member of for quite some time. I get editorial, fashion show, photo styling and other work through those sites as well.

Offline: I sell my original designs through fashion and trunk shows, mostly. I also do custom commissions that I get via referrals and networking, as well as design jobs for commercial and editorial photography in conjunction with my work as a photo stylist. I've been a stylist for 18 years, and have many connections in the commercial and fashion industries, so it's an area that I do a fair bit of work.

I sell on ebay and and my own free website at freeweb.com. (http://www.vinces-jewelry-gallery.com). After being frustrated with selling on ebay because of their high fees and going up all the time, I have switched my efforts to a new and exciting site called "Bonanzle.com". They are great and very friendly with many great people now joining them. It is the most user friendly and exciting place on the internet at this time.It is free with a very small selling fee only after you sell an item. My site is at: http://bonanzle.com/booths/vcrison
Give it a try, you won't be sorry. Vince Crison, Vince' Jewelry Gallery
